Tomorrowland Refresh
Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom
When most people think of Disney World, a vision of Magic Kingdom pops into their head as their first thought. Rightfully so, because the layout and design is near perfection. The entrance leads you under the railroad tunnels and onto Main Street USA with a theatrical view of Cinderella’s Castle that will leave any first time guest in awe! (Now you’re hooked and will return to Disney every year forever, for-ever, foooor-eeevvveeerrrr)
After the big castle reveal, the true brilliance of the parks layouts takes place. Its the hub and spoke design that has you branch off into 6 different “lands” from the center of the park! Those lands are: Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Main Street USA and Tomorrowland (I’m coming for you Tomorrowland).
Tomorrowland Refresh Ideas
In my opinion out of the 6 lands, Tomorrowland needs a much needed overhaul. Maybe overhaul is too strong, but it certainly needs updating because its feeling more like Yester-yearland to me. Let’s get into the rebuild/refresh/updates, whatever you want to call it.
Rides That Stay As Is
Buzz Lightyears’s Space Ranger Spin
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
Transit Authority PeopleMover
Tron
Rides That Need Refurbishments
Astro Orbiter - minor refurb
Make ride a little smoother, maybe update ride vehicles
Tomorrowland Speedway - moderate refurb
Turn the gas vehicles into electric vehicles and maybe add some shade and new scenery
Space Mountain - MAJOR refurb
Splash Mountain is now Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and it is rumored Big Thunder Mountain is about to get a new smoother track and new explosion scene with projections.
I would like to see the same upgrade as they are building in Tokyo Disneyland. We all know Disney likes to take advantage of putting the same ride in multiple parks to cut Imagineering costs.

Replace With A New Attraction
Carousel of Progress
I know this is a hot button topic because its an original ride and was featured at the 1964 World’s Fair. BUT, this ride has to go (to Epcot, in the old Wonders of Life Building)
*Stitch’s Great Escape
This is already gone but the building remains there and is presumably empty.
A few ideas of what could replace these attractions:
Stitches Great Escaped Replacement - An indoor play place for families with little kids. It could have a futuristic theming with maybe projections on the walls and ceilings of flying cars, etc. Most of all it would be a good place to take a break from the hot summer heat, rain or overall stimulation.
Replacing CoP - A trackless vehicle ride, similar to Runaway Railway. Considering it would be located in Tomorrowland, some ideas for themes could be
Chasing Stitch through outer space
Evolution of robots and flying cars, appearances from Wall-E and Baymax from Big Hero 6. (robots through the years can be a nod to CoP)
I’d like to know what you would keep, refresh or replace in Tomorrowland!
