What Disney World Rides Can My 4 Year Old Ride?

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Reaching the 40” height mark is sort of a big deal in Disney World! There are more than a few rides throughout the parks that require the rider to be at least 40” tall. This can also mean bigger thrills!!! Now, not every kid (or adult for that matter) has the same appetite for thrill rides. If your kiddo is finally tall enough to ride Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, it doesn’t mean they have to. Always take into account their feelings towards big drops, speed and spookiness. After all, it’s supposed to be fun, not traumatizing. Check out each parks rides that have 38” or 40” height requirements and I will rate their thrill level on a scale from 1 (Lowest) to 5 (Highest).

Magic Kingdom

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - 40” Thrill Level: 3

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - 38” Thrill Level: 2

  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure - 40” Thrill Level: 4

Epcot

  • Soarin’ - 40” Thrill Level: 1

  • Mission Space - 40” Thrill Level: Green 2 - Orange 5

  • Test Track - 40” Thrill Level: 3

Hollywood Studios

  • Slinky Dog Dash - 38” Thrill Level: 4

  • Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run - 38” Thrill Level: 2

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance - 40” Thrill Level: 4

  • Star Tours - 40” Thrill Level: 2

  • Twilight Zone Tower of Terror - 40” Thrill Level: 5

Animal Kingdom

  • Kali River Rapids - 38” Thrill Level: 3

  • Dinosaur - 40” Thrill Level: 4/5

There you have it! Some awesome attractions open up to riders taller than 40”. My personal favorites on this list are Big Thunder, Slinky Dog Dash, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (formal Splash Mountain) and Soarin’!!! We have a very excited little traveler that just hit 40” and we cannot wait to ride all of these together, but Tower of Terror might just have to wait another year or two.
